Arcana Studio
Arcana Studio is a Canadian comic book publisher and art studio founded by former Coquitlam, British Columbia school teacher Sean O'Reilly in 2004.
Overview
Arcana's titles include Kade, Ezra, 100 Girls and El Arsenal. Arcana has been a sponsor for Free Comic Book Day since 2004. Arcana Studios has appeared at Elfsar Comics on Free Comic Book Day as well as Golden Apple Comics. In four short years they have become Canada's top publisher with over one hundred properties to their credit. Arcana has been named one of the Top 25 fastest growing companies.
Arcana Art Studio is currently working for Disney as an official vendor, Ubisoft, HBO and developed Dragon's Lair, ReBoot, Se7en and Final Destination for comic books. Arcana has also signed a publishing deal with Simon Shuster for 100 Girls and a coproduction deal with Amberwood Animation on Ralph Filmore for an animated television series. Arcana has also gained Acquisition of Devil's Due projects.
In July, 2008 Arcana announced that telefilm Canada has provided funding for an animated film for their title Clockwork Girl. Clockwork Girl was the first release from Arcana’s all ages division, Arcana Kids.[1]
At the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con Arcana Comics announced that it will be bringing back The Greatest American Hero in comic book form.
Awards
Arcana won the Shuster Awards for publisher of the year in 2005.
Arcana was a finalist for the CME's two years in a row.
